An advantage of using Cat 5 and Cat 6 cabling is its ability to be connected to the phone line. Both Cat 5 and Cat 6 adhere to a much higher quality than that of ordinary telephone cables and are offer a much higher quality of signal.  Any outlet on a Cat 5 or Cat 6 network system can be enabled to use a telephone, fax or modem and patched in to the phone system.
